First full dry fit with roof

otterine

I cut the roof pieces out and have put together the first full dry fit with the roof pieces in place. It's very rough and the fit is poor at the moment, but I can already see the beauty of this house. I am so thrilled with this project! When building the Heritage, the instructions indicate that you should build the house with connectors cut to a certain length. Once the house is built, you are to saw off the tops of said connectors to match the angles of the roof. I decided to measure, mark and cut the connectors while still in dry fit. I started with the connectors on either side of the gables since without those tapered to the right angles, dry fitting the roof is impossible. But, I haven't done them all, so that is why the roof is sitting at odd angles here and there. As I mentioned previously, the porch will be completely different from the original, but to get a general idea of the layout I used the existing porch roof piece and some uncut connectors to hold it in place.

Thank you! There was someone here on GL (I think) who did a few rows of pointed shingles mixed in with regular shingles. It had an unusual look about it that I thought would look great on a haunted house. I have speed shingles in both designs - pointed and square.
