Half Paneling

dooder85

After some research on Tudor fireplaces, a recurring theme of half paneling on the walls made itself apparent. I've decided to go with this approach so the house isn't overwhelmed by dark wood. I've stained the bottom three inches with Minwax Jacobean and will build up panel framework with balsa strips. I also think I will forego the kit mantle and build a more elaborate mantle around the fireplace and work with stucco or paperclay stonework for the upper portion of the fireplace structures.
