i broke the garrison down to start the floor';s. the front floor is for the front porch. the middle floor is the living room, it's the first parquet floor i've done in maybe 30 years. i really enjoyed doing this. there are two more parquet floors going in on this floor. the parlor ,i'm going for a star burst. the dining room will be done in herringbone. when the floors are finished i will install the wall's solid to the floor. except for the one's that will remove...ron

Its amazing to see the different ways you have gone about building this masterpiece, nice! Is the parkay small individual pieces then I assume?

debora yes , every individual piece has been cut from one inch board. mahogany and walnut so far in the picture. i'm starting with maple today for the parlor floor. first cut to thickness, 1 inch= 1/12 inch , when to width, 3 inch=1/4 inch. then all hand sanded. next cut to length, 1 foot= 1 inch. that's a lot of wood part's. next they are all glued down, took me two days on the center floor. then sanded with 100 grit sandpaper, then 220 grit. time for my finish next. next is my special coating. then sand with 400 grit. last is three more coat's of my finish. finally done. then go to the next floor and do it all again. i finished the dining room floor in herringbone last night and wanted to have a good start on the parlor today. but the radiator went in my wife's car yesterday so had to work on that today. just finished that a few minuets ago. i hate working on the newer car's. stuff is so crammed together in there. funny thing is i have a pro-street dragster in my garage. drove that on the street to car show's until it became to radical. it has near 900 horsepower. it's a blower engine with nitrous, if you know what that is. now it ride's on a trailer...ron
