Your door looks fabulous. Is that paper clay? I don't really know what paper clay is - not sure if we have it over here - but I have seen others use it for things like stonework.

Thanks! Yes, it's paperclay, and I'm finding new uses for it all the time! I got the idea from the great work Tracy (Traci?) does with it. There are others who do wonderful things with it on the Greenleaf forum, too. I'm having a hard time forcing myself to wait for it to dry so I can paint. That's what makes it look real. I did my fireplaces with it, too.

Thanks so much! I was inspired by all the wonderful work the members of this forum continue to do. It's great to be counted among them! If I can offer you a few bits of advice on your first project (this is mine, too!), just let me know. I started this dollhouse on last New Year's Eve, so it's taken me six months to get to this point, and I worked on it almost every weekend, nonstop. That's not to say you won't be much quicker since I tend to be a trifle on the detail oriented side. If I had it to do over again (and I will!), I would take much more care with making the pieces fit snug and square at the very beginning. Little gaps at the start end up being much larger at the finish. I used a TON of spackle to cover up. It would have been much neater if I had only known to sand and file the tabs and slots to make everything fit. After the first few weeks, I was very brave with cutting and sawing and filing to make things fit. It was just too late in the process to avoid the problems caused by the very first few pieces.

I don't mean to intimidate you, so pleae relax! There's nothing you can't fix. If you need any help, please don't hesitate to PM me, or email, or post a note. My email is dgoggans@earthlink.net. I'd be very happy to help.
