Stucco and stone foundation detail

The foundation is also wallboard mud. The "stones" need to be refined a bit -- with an emery board, I think -- to get rid of some little peaks left from dragging the toothpick through the mud. And then it needs to be tinted aged, of course. My husband is suggesting I use his airbrush, but I'm thinking I'd rather use a brush and layer on washes.
