Does this room need more light? Where? It seems awkward to add over the island and/or over the kitchen counters. I figure no one plays in the dark so maybe the kitchen is ok?

It might be ok over the island if it was track light size, not chandelier light size. Idk what the name is for the light that is very low profile, but I agree it needs more light. You could make a lamp too. My mom has a lamp in her kitchen.

The light flooring, cabinets, counter tops, appliances, ceiling and furniture bring a lot of brightness to the room, as do the lamp and mirror. I think rather than adding lights, I would do the walls in a much lighter color. The contrast between all the white and the dark walls is a bit unsettling to me. The darkness seems to pull the light out of the room.

Thanks! I’m going to mull it over and figure it out :)

Thanks Kathie but I think I’m tied to the navy walls. The whole house is kind of over the top and I fell in love with the wallpaper in the kitchen which is kind of jungly looking on a navy background. I like the contrast but understand it’s not for everyone. I’ll find a way to add some more light :) this house is also full of kooky elaborate chandeliers so I’ll have to sit with it a bit…

I see your point.  I'm sure you will work it out.

My RL kitchen has can lights in the ceiling. Obviously that cannot be done here but perhaps you could mimic that with a couple well placed ceiling lights that are low profile/close to the ceiling. You are quite clever with lamp making!

This you tube channel shows lights made in a fake soffit type structure. It is quite thin uses fairy lights in side small eyelets. It looks just like the can lights in my RL ceiling.

Light construction starts at 16:46
