china fire

WyckedWood

I know Im weird, but I feel like theres a kinship that happens between the dolls that go through their china painting sessions together. Like the children are comforted by the adults and theyre all speaking to eachother about whats happening. Lol...that's something I would only tell my dollhouse friends and probably not my husband he thinks Im weird enough.

I love how excited the little girl on the left looks :) One thing Ive learned about my tastes in dolls, I really like dolls who are smiling, those are my favorites, they have such a happy presence. The elf girl on the right looks aloof as usual lol. I lost the other 3rd elf girl, after examining her face there were too many flaws to send her thru the whole painting process which is so time consuming. What happened was, when I was cleaning her in the greenware stage (I use water and paintbrushes to clean), I had rested the wet paintbrush on an area of her cheek and nose for a second too long and it caused a depression. It was slight but still noticeable.

Im just putting this batch in the kiln, there are more dolls here than Ive painted in the past in one session so it took awhile to get them all painted. I wont be able to open the kiln until morning, although the 018 firing will be done by 5:30pm. It gives me something to look fw to, as soon as I wake up I go down to the garage to check on them.

In this batch I have a Henry Higgins doll, hes really neat, modeled by Janna Joseph after the actor Rex Harrison who played Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady and the ghost from the Ghost and Mrs Muir, one of my fave movies. He has a great wizardy nose and strong masculine face, I think could be cast in a lot of different roles from Father Christmas to a medieval sorcerer or white wigged Georgian dance partner for one of my ladies. Still learning the ropes as far as painting men, so I hope he turns out.
