So I tried printing on 'professional' paper and matte photo paper.  What a huge difference!  Definitely going with the photo paper on the right.

the difference is quite good, and was it easy to glue on your wall ? did you make the print yourself? I love it ! can't wait to see it in progress again

Because it's thicker than normal paper, it was pretty easy to cut and glue on.  Yes I printed it myself and I used a glue stick to stick it on which worked really well!
