A few hours work. Carpet is all removed, lights and scary wiring removed, loose wallpaper gone, foundation faux stone removed, mouse poo gone. I removed the stairs and railings as well. They didn't fit properly, besides being ridiculously dusty and firmly covered with red felt. There's still many hours of detail cleaning and glue scraping ahead of me, but I think it already looks better. The goal is clean, fresh, pretty, and light.

Thanks so much! It's growing on me! I have a few days off, and the weather is supposed to be cooler, so I'm hoping to do more of the detailed cleaning. They used wads and wads of glue for every surface, and when the glue ran out, they used tacky wax. There's a lot of scraping in my future. There's no way to remove all of it, just enough so that the new layers will lay flat.
