From double door to single

otterine

The Backyard Bungalow kit comes with a double door, but to preserve some wall space, I modified it to a single door.  I love the design of the door window, so I never even considered swapping it out entirely for a readymade component.

The doors are easily removed from the frame; there's a hinge pin on top and a head pin on the bottom.  The window acrylic can be removed by taking out the wood shim at the top.

I built the new frame from strip wood, added a transom window and strip wood to keep the drafts out.  The door color is Plantation Pine by Americana, and the frame is Warm White, also by Americana.  There will be trim covering the outer edges, so I didn't bother refining those.

I've aged the door a little and will do some more finishing before putting it all back together.

I really like what you e done with it. And I love the door color. That's a nice touch changing the threshold color too! :ohyeah:
