Rubber Mold making

Debora59

You will need plexi glass for base, an item to make a mold of, Vaseline or museum wax to secure item to the plexi glass, Play dough to build a perimerter, Smooth on Oomoo liquid rubber. A throw away container for mixing parts A & B rubber mold mix. Its a quite heavy mixture so you will need a paint stick or old wooden spoon to stir. Secure your item flat side down to the plexi glass,  [ If you purchase the Smooth On kit it also includes the easy release spray for the item you are making a mold of and liquid plastic for casting multiples of your item. As well as a DVD ] Spray the item before you secure it to plexi glass. set up a perimeter of play dough, the video in the kit shows other options you can use to contain the liquid rubber, I found playdough to be the best, you can easily make any size batch for small to large items. Pour the liquid rubber allow to set up for several hours or overnight. Remove the playdough surround and carefully remove your item from the mold, You end up with a perfect mold to be used over and over again! I myself have never made molds of anything but flat backed items but it can be done.
