Smooth On mold making

Debora59

After trying less accurate forms of mold making, my husband encouraged me to try this mold making kit. It has almost every thing you need for the process in cluding an instructional DVD, or go online. It is extremely accurate and the mold will last a very long time if not forever, its quite durable. its the only thing I use now, I have made 10 to 15 molds or more, items I needed multiples of, for example: a house that needed 16 matching ornate door casings. The process works well even with ornate items. I have cast door casings, fireplaces, hard to find moldings, my 1/6 scale headboards, over doors, windows moldings, the list goes on. The mold is rubber and the pourable casting material is a plastic resin, I will be making another mold soon, so I will document the process and show you each step of the way. This kit costs about $50 thru art supply stores.

Thank you so much for showing us this. Can't wait to see your tutorial.

Your Welcome, Something to point out is that it can be very cost effective to cast, depending on the thickness of the item you wish to cast, so the kit costs about $50, half the materials are for making the rubber mold, the other half goes into the casting, so for example I will probably end up making about 25 Gothic Windows, which puts the cost at $1 per window after making the rubber mold [ which will last indefinitely ]

And for the exorbitant price you'd have to pay for such detailed custom built windows, this is truly a tremendous bargain.

YES...I paid $300 for my first window set which includes the design fee. Any further windows ordered will run me $65 each, this saves me roughly $6000. now the balusters are on there way, I cannot cast these and they will cost me $32 each.
