Old fashioned butter churns

otterine

These are Bodo Hennig vintage butter churns. Yes, they work! The gears need a little lubrication, so I'll dive into my sewing supplies to smooth out the movement. Of course, if I had 1:12 scale hands, maybe it would be easier. :D

These darling items came from Maupertuus & Pommerijntje in the Netherlands. I contacted them about shipping to the US, and Rik was very helpful. I ended up having to pay additional fees for the bank transfer, but the minis were well priced and the shipping reasonable so it all worked out in the end. Besides, they are not easy to find here in the US, and you tend to pay a little more for rare items in general. Rik mailed the package quickly and they arrived in great shape. One is for a friend, and it was easier for me to order two at the same time than have both of us pay the bank fees.

I have something very similar (green top though) and I thought it was some sort of early mixer - but butter churn makes perfect sense.  How fun to learn about it.

Are the green ones authentic bodo hennig butter churns?   I was told by a lady in Germany that they were not.

I'm not sure. I bought these years ago before the pricing on them went crazy.
