I was considering moving the fireplace, but came up with an idea that I'm happy with instead.

First I looked for an image of a stone fireplace for the interior. I put the image into TouchDraw on my iPad and scaled it to an appropriate size. At the same time I scaled a bunch of furniture cutouts, but after making myself crazy cutting and folding a couple, this house may just be unfurnished.

Anyway, then I looked for a stone pattern I liked. I scaled, flipped, and inverted copies of that in TouchDraw to create a long unbroken image of stones. I printed this out and created a pattern to wrap the fireplace piece with the stone. I love that it looks like tiny rocks :)
