tree

WyckedWood

I was able to get a good start on my tree, although it will get filled in a little more here and there. I wanted it really full, but the size of the room makes that impossible. I had to trim it down much more than I wanted to. I added lights but then decided I wasn't going to use them, theyre too LED looking, and cumbersome on the tree.. so this is most likely the only picture Ill have of a lit tree. I read once that if you apply small flat back crystals to the tree it can give the same effect as lights but more subtle so Im going to try that instead. Also the light bulbs are spaced 2 inches apart which isn't very realistic, even though these are made for 1:12 12v system.

Course we are seeing the real thing and you are, but from here they look just great. I'm crazy fascinated with lights and reflections so I'd probably add another string - I'm so weird. Maybe you could try a different brand or use clear bulbs and dip them with gallery glass colors to suit your décor.

These were so expensive I don't think Id want to get a second set. I worry about how much they draw from the power strip I use, I have other lamps that need to go on the same strip. I may be able to use these outside or even in the attic (unplugged) as Christmas supplies stored in a trunk or something. I like the gallery glass idea, gonna store that away in my brain for future use:)

The ones I've used run off AA batteries so you wouldn't have to use up space on your power strip. You could hide the battery under the house and run the wires up in the corner of the floor. Some come with a switch and some don't.

I've used the battery pack ones before too, i actually tried some flat back swarkovski crystals glued to the branches here and there and I love them, it just makes the tree wink and twinkle a little, it's subtle and much less cumbersome. I only had red and clear though so I need to find green blue and yellow :-) thanks for the thoughts Selkie, about the Finnish cake too, that sounds yummy :)
