gpamike
I'm considering using my instant pot with black tea to stain my shingles. Has anyone tried this before? Any cons to putting the shingles in boiling water?
madtex1967
I would not put the shingles in the boiling water. I would let the tea cool, the soak the shingles oak the desired time to get the color you want. I would use the disposable foil pan method. Use two large foil pans. Put the tea in one pan and place the shingles in the other. The pan with the shingles needs to have holes poked in the bottom of it. It acts like a strainer. When the shingles reach your desired color, lift the pan out and put the shingles on paper towels or newspaper to dry. I use this method when I dye my shingles using vinegar and steel wool dye mixture.
