  1. Ouch! I would say another case of a non-miniaturist who thinks they have a gold mine.
  2. Been there, and given away some houses. I recently got a almost free Grandville for cheap, assembled. Knowing how rare, I took it. Luckily, I have a walk up attic, so there it sits. One day I will get to it, probably rebuild it so I know it will stay together. Finds like that are hard to pass up. I have cleaned out my stash of other kits, but, hmmm, go figure, it still grows. I just recently acquired a very rare Opening Scenes Wuthering Heights kit. It us the house from the 1930s movie. It's an addiction, go with it!
  3. Thank you so much for the compliments! It was so much fun to build and create the cottage. The bathroom was an easy add to the kit. I cut the door on the side for the room access. The room itself is made of Foam Core Board, then covered in scribed sheets on the inside and board and batten on the outside. You would be able to extend the floor across for more room. I had given this some thought for the bathroom, but I wanted to keep the open living area. If you are hesitant to use the 1/8" plywood for the additions, you could use FC Board or Gator board for the floor. I would then use trim to cover the difference in the floor thickness. By doing this, you could easily move the staircase and even the wall between the downstairs rooms. Let your imagination go wild!

  9. A few more of "What are they thinking?" Maybe it is me, but I think people need to research things before listing them for sale. Also, sentimental attachments ($$) need to go if you are selling it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-GREENLEAF-THE-WASHINGTON-DOLLHOUSE-KIT-NEW-IN-BOX-/265317515314?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276 https://www.ebay.com/itm/373723901068?epid=2255327537&hash=item5703ae2c8c:g:84IAAOSwDHZhQ3Ou https://www.ebay.com/itm/173843375383?hash=item2879df6517:g:Ej4AAOSwNIpckcRY https://www.ebay.com/itm/265092820137?hash=item3db8c36ca9:g:~EEAAOSw-iFgU1kQ
  10. We were very lucky. No wind damage at all. Our 150 yr old house strong. Not a creak or a groan the whole time. And let me tell you it was a Nasty, Nasty Storm. The generator is running the refrigerator and freezer, fans, and occasional TV. I am working from home, so it is keeping my laptop powered up. I just finished up my work for the day (not much to do as normal with half our facilities closed). We have gas cooktop and water and sewerage service, so we can cook and take showers, etc. I will be catching up on my reading and hopefully working on the First Lady!
  11. Just a quick note that we made it through the storm. No damage to the house. But our 80+ yr old pecan tree took a beating. Several limbs in the street and neighbors driveway. Now dealing with no electricity and no idea when it will be restored. Luckily we have a generator and access to gas to keep it running. But it doesn't power the AC. So you all know with our humidity . . . Been spending time working from home on my work laptop (glad I bought it home). And spending time on the front porch, where it is so much cooler than inside the house. Looks like I will be catching up on reading and work on the First Lady. It could have been much worse. So very thankful. All my family and friends came out unscathed as well. Matt

  15. Thank you all for these words and those of you who reacted to the post. I know it was the best for her, as I could never let her live in pain. But a little bit of me is missing.
  16. I lost my original inspector this morning. Harriett was 17 years old and had been borderline with kidney problems. Yesterday she was not herself and I got her to the vet this morning. She was in complete kidney failure. She brought me 16+ years of joy and love. I will miss my baby girl.

  18. A rare kit if anyone is interested in a general store or a saloon! https://www.ebay.com/itm/234125328851?hash=item3682f501d3:g:gQUAAOSw9mthDcxJ
  19. I have a few of those inspectors as well. This is Oswald, making sure the Vineyard Cottage was properly glued.
  20. So this . . . I checked back to see if was still available and contact the owner to pick up this week. She doubled the price! Ummm . . . no, I really don't need it. Even at $50, its a bargain. But gets me she would double the asking price when someone gets interested in it. Lost sale at this point. BTW, it has been listed for 2 months.
  21. I use a flat latex paint, usually white, left over from real size house projects. I normally prime after the house is built - I am one that does the wallpaper, etc. after the house is constructed. I find it easier for me to do this, as when I run my electrical tape, I don't have to worry about where it needs to go before I decorate. I find I change things up as I go in decorating a house (inside and out)!
  22. Hello All! I have listed on eBay some items I will not be using out of my stash that maybe someone on here might be interested in. I have several Housework half scale windows and doors listed. This includes the Yorktown, Victorian, and dormers. I am going to be listing more items, mostly brick sheets (latex and styrene) with corners. If anyone is interested, I will give them a deal from the listed price on eBay! I am wanting to clear out some things. PM me if you see anything that you are interested in. eBay name: madnnola Matt
  23. As you all are welcome to come back to NOLA for a visit! (or anyone else from the forum). I'd love to show off the real life house and my mini ones in progress.
  24. Thank you so much Kells!! I wish I spent more time on my miniatures. I so enjoy doing them. I am concentrating on the RGT half scale First Lady. It is fun and a challenge (I feel I am not as handy in half scale and 1"). On the Pierce, I was supposed to pick it up this weekend, but life got in the way. I want to try this week one evening after work. Kathy & Holly - that was such a nice day. It was good to meet you all and husbands. It was a nice lunch as well. I did sell the Garfield when I moved into our home. I did keep some of the expensive gingerbread and the staircase off the house. I sold for sooooooooooooo much less than I had invested. But that is why it is a hobby!
