It's spring. The snow is gone, the skiers have left the slopes of Sweetheart Mountain, and the lifts are populated with hikers and birdwatchers enjoying the mountain greenery. Cindy Lou is heading up the mountain for a few days of camping. Glenn is headed back down the mountain from an early morning of birdwatching. From the little grin on his face, it's quite possible that Cindy Lou is the cutest bird he's seen today. He's waving to her, pointing out the little cardinal singing below them in the clear morning light.
[Technical note: The vignette is contained in a box made of foamcore, with a balsawood veneer on the front. The "cables" are dowels painted silver, and the wheels they run on are sewing machine bobbins. (The gondolas can be lifted off.) The background contains a handpainted morning sky and a vista of pine-covered mountainsides and valleys made of fabric. Below the gondolas can be seen the mountainside and the tops of evergreens. In between the pines, a few white dogwoods are blooming.]
