Kiln Front Chinked
The kiln has had iron bracing added to hold the sides together as they expand with the great heat inside. The white patches are clay that has been used to chink the cracks that occur when the expansion occurs.
The surface is a bit too shiny. I coated the dried clay with satin finish polyacrylic.I wish I hadn't done that, as kiln bricks are never glazed. I put several washes of acrylic over the shine but they didn't dull it down enough.
The inside is still the original brick-printed paper. It's not easily seen and works just fine.
