Hi Selkie, the counter top is made from a sheet of card laminated with a blue metallic finish. I found it in my little stationers shop down in Sitia whilst sorting through some off-cuts of discarded bits and pieces in the storeroom. The Greek owners of the shop must think I am a strange English person but are so helpful when I am in need of inspiration and leave me to search about until I find what I want. I hope they never have to close due to the terrible recession that we are having in this country!!
