(I am also doing a 1:6 scale house, but my furniture is pretty chunky, old Barbie stuff)

Have you tried spray painting the furniture with plastic spray paint? I did that with some Barbie stuff I did not use and it worked out pretty good. It helped tone down the hot pink plastic, actually.

(When I was a kid, I used to paint my Barbie stuff with enamel paints because I could not stand the hot pink!!)
