wall shelf

WyckedWood

I needed a wall shelf for the dining room and wanted something different, something with a garden feel...came up with this shelf, shamelessly inspired by the Italian Roberta Solari shelves which I tragically cant afford...I cant say this was fun to make, because there was soooo much trial and error, but Im very happy with the way it turned out,and its just right for the space. I dont know how Roberta makes hers, but mine is polymer clay sculpted tiles and roses, leaves, with handpainted roses accents.

Thank you:-) The wire looking suff is a drywall patch, used to repair holes in walls, theyre sold in individual sheets, I found this particular one at Ace. Worked really well, and spray painted up nicely without primer, I was afraid the paint would clog in the holes but it didnt. The tiles are placed inside empty eyeshadow tins, Hollys idea:-) To cover the raw edges of the wire grid down the front of the shelves I used soft lead tape (the type used for mini stained glass) cut into thin strips.
