Otter Springs Clay roof

Ok... I was going to do clay shingles.... but ditched the idea....

Instead... after looking at some Rik Pierce houses and scouring the internet... I decided to do a clay thatch roof. I have been wanting to do a real thatch roof... but went this route this time. The clay is drying at the moment... I need to do some serious clean up on the clay and work the "seems" down a bit..... and of course paint it... but I am ok with this first attempt at a clay roof.

thank you ladies.... I did some research on different types of thatch roof and I liked the ones that had different "layers" I hope it turns out nice once it's all painted :)

Kelly, This is great! Can I ask what you used for marking in the clay? It's great and so realistic. Been thinking and looking for some ideas for thatching myself and just seen this. LOVE IT!!!!!
