These thick pillars woul have capitals to match the staircase topper. Exploring the idea of bigger pillars, I will prob cut down the bases , obviously have some work to do, but I noticed I could put sonething there like a standing candlebra, or a figure, although the wall sconce type looks nice here

I like the idea of a bigger pillar...you'd need a substantial pillar to hold up the ceiling! It does block the view of the fireplace though.
