I don't own this piece, but I could purchase and put it in place of that corner piece that was blocking the window line...what do you think?

That would work...thinking maybe you should try a dry fit with the ceiling in place to see how it looks. Watching Otterine's Haunted Heritage build has given me a whole new appreciation for that angle.
