The books I had left, which were too tall to fit any of the bookcases in either house, were placed on a shelf in the kitchen as cookbooks. They'll sit far enough back in the room that you won't be able to tell you're looking at The History of Flight instead of French Cuisine.

Or perhaps one likes to hang out in the kitchen on the windowseat while dinner's cooking and read history books. :-D
