Close Call - 7-1-11

rackey

To move the Garfield house out of the basement it had to go through this door that led to the side of the basement that leads to the outside cellar door. The house was hitting the woodwork so my 88 year old father, whose full-size house I live in, removed the door of the hinge, just like he did when the house came through the basement from the upstairs in 1985. The house was assembled when purchased, so if it made it in the house, I knew it would make it out. Sure enough, by removing the door we took an inch, and it gave us a mile. The house slid through without a hitch - or I should say, without a hinge.
