Half scale Rosedale - laundry room

I've decided to make the large room on the first floor a combined kitchen / eating area, so the smaller room (which would normally be the kitchen) will serve as a laundry room. I added a wall beside the stairs so they don't jut into the room, and plan to build in a pantry under the stairs, similar to <a href="http://www.emilymorganti.com/blog/?p=1815" target="_blank">what I did in the Fairfield</a>.
