Kitchen

Just One More

I don't know if the Chrysonbon stove is OK or not. I figure they used to cook in the fireplace in the living room but later in time got a coal stove to cook. That would make it 1860's or so. The house is older though.

I'm not sure if they were using these types of stoves in the colonial period or not, but either way this kitchen is lovely.

That's what I was wondering about. Whether I should have it be really the Colonial time period, 1700's or a house like the ones people live in now that are the original old houses but have been updated over the years. Some pictures in my Early American Life magazines have refrigerators etc., that have been enclosed in cupboards to give the look of real Colonial times. The other rooms are much easier to keep entirely Colonial. In a dollhouse you see all the rooms at once so it's hard to do that. I'll probably take out the stove and have the living room as what they called the keeping room where the cooking was done and meals were served. The kitchen would have the sink with a pump, cabinets, and all the other things needed for preparing a meal. It must have been hard living back then.
