Weathered Rafter Step 1

Exposed rafters were common on some older buildings with expanded 2nd floors. Weathering a rafter for a house adds to the realism of the project. A few simple steps and a little patience makes a huge difference when adding rafters to a house. The first step is to make the rafters sized to scale. For easier cutting I use two 1" X 1/4" beams cut to size and glued side-by-side for a 1/2 X 1 foot rafter to scale.
