Looking a bit better now.

Fiddled with these pieces a long time-- painting, sanding down, repainting, three coats for some. Now with some sealer on, looking a bit better. Some of these will get dressed up with pillows and ruffles, and I have an idea of putting some decoupage-type decoration on the little tables...

You have the same furniture kit that I have...I haven't started mine yet..yours looks terrific--was it hard to do?

Hi Sadie, I spent quite a bit of time on 'em. I think Deb and some other folks have done pieces from this set as well, with very nice results, but it is obvious the amount of time she put into her pieces... The reason for this is that all the things one doesn't like about die-cut assemblies really come out with these small pieces-- glaring rough edges, uneven joints, all that bit. I sanded my pieces minimally because I didn't want them to fall apart-- then I primed the glued assembly, sanded down some more, applied paint and spackle (actually caulk-- I have found that it smears on nicely with good smoothing effect) to the edges, sanded down some more, dremeled down some pieces to make them sit level, applied more paint, several times as needed, before I finally said "enough is enough" and applied the sealer.

I also bashed some of the assemblies-- the sink unit doesn't look at all like the kit directions (half an inch shorter for starters); the kitchen chairs have at least a quarter inch hacked off their legs; the easy chair assembly is very different from the kit. I did this to 1) try to make the pieces fit the house, which is a bit smaller than 1:12, and 2) make the pieces more aesthetically pleasing and less clunky, at least to me...

Hope this helps-- I had fun with these pieces though! There are still quite a few left to assemble, since I had to choose carefully for this small house... I'll save 'em for another project, because I really need to finish shingling this house!

Regards, rbytsdy
