Veiled

Because I have a tight budget for this rather ambitious project, I looked around the house for a way to color the shingles. I had a bunch of old watercolors that hadn't used the black paint, so I popped out three discs of black watercolor pigment and mixed them with 1 cup of water, and soaked the shingles overnight. The next morning I laboriously spread them into one layer to dry. The results are not perfect but they are close to what I imagined. I am allowing the leftover paint to dry out a little (it's down to half a cup in volume) and might wash over the shingles again, because some of them definitely still look like chips of pine.

Looks great! I’ve used Rit dye a lot bc I like the colors. Love the idea of soaking overnight- sounds easier!
