One advantage of hot glue

A quick inspection revealed that I could feel through the attic wallpaper where the hole for the dormer so I cut a hole in the attic wallpaper and carefully removed some of the cedar shingles with a paint scrapper. Few people would recommend using hot glue when putting together a dollhouse, but I'm glad that's how they attached the shingles because it allowed me to remove the shingles in big sheets.
