Another view of the wall over the sofa. The photographs are actual family photographs that are similar to what was on my grandparents’ walls. I had a very clear memory of a sailfish mounted over the sofa, but my mother tells me it never existed. She says my grandfather wanted one. He and my grandmother were avid deep sea fishers, and they went on a fishing trip specifically for sailfish. He had it all planned out how he would mount it, but his trip was unsuccessful. (Apparently, I was remembering the alternate reality where his trip was successful.) Anyway, I decided he should get his fish in my rec room. The fish is an inexpensive gold-tone brooch I got on eBay and painted, then mounted. In real life, it would be about a 4-foot fish.
