Bedroom window

otterine

Time to cut the window, door and ceiling openings.  I've added a tiny round window next to the door so Gustav can see who's-a-knockin' at the door.  :D  This the 1 1/8" Simplicity Window from Heritage Laser Works.

There will be interior lighting, but I wanted to see how these openings effect the natural flow of light inside the mill.  Back into dry fit.  The bedroom window is a 2 1/4" Simplicity Window from Heritage Laser Works.  Since the white paper I was using for the roof allowed light in, I tested the dry fit with black paper this time around.  The bedroom is dark, but I think it's cozy.  With some added lamps, I think it will be just fine.  Plus, the ceiling won't be black in the end.  I'll skip adding side windows here.

Ooh.. looks good!

Where does the ladder come up now? Behind the bed? Have you tried the bed on the other side of the room behind the dumb waiter railing? (I'm sure you have :D ) It just seems a shame for the sweet little ladder access to be hidden behind the bed.... So much to fit in.. so little room... the miniaturist constant battle. :)

Thank you!  :D

I actually haven't tried moving the bed to the other side, since I just liked it this way.  :hmm:  You will see the top of the final ladder behind the bed since it will go high up the wall to be "functional."  I'll play some more.

Ahhh... I knew you'd have a plan to deal with this... I didn't even think about the ladder going further up the wall.. which is, of course, exactly the way to make it much more functional (and visible :D )... Here I was thinking poor Gustav was going to have to clamber through the hole on his knees... :D

This ladder is borrowed from the lighthouse.  I would never subject Gustav to such a travesty as crawling around like some animal!
