So after a Mississippi mud coat of paint beneath the plank part. I have actually glued down the octagonal parts.

Ahhh, could I blame the cough syrup for that one? It should have Said glued down

Mmmm, but then again fluted does sound a bit steampunk - ish Doesn't it? :)
