Foyer tiling

This is gorgeous! How did you cut the tiny black squares for the filler? Did you glue this down individually to the floor or put on a template then put it down. Very new to all this so, if you can't tell. lol.  I was thinking of using the stick tile you find in Lowes and cutting that into small pieces. Do you think that would work?

The tiles were precut, they are basically Formica. It took some research to figure out how to cut them for the edges. I bought a Chopper II and that worked. Kept replacing the razor blade in it every few tiles I cut. 

I do know of people using stick tiles, but I'm not confident that I could cut them square enough, I imagine you'd need a "pro" type saw or something to get this many ttue squares, if you simply did that.
