If I can figure out how to cut and lay them, I may use these. They are Formica and difficult to cut

That would be an awesome floor. Try scoring the tile and snapping it to break. The pieces are so small that you may have to hold the tile between two pairs of pliers to snap. I don't think fingers would do it.
