1st floor/floor 24x36 stage 1

Emerald

1/6 scale, 36"L x 24"D x 20"H.  First floor is a 1" piece of wood and I will put the house on a flat furniture dolly ($20 at Menards).  The floor will be of a distressed design 4 colors of paint, sanded and golden oak sparingly stained.  The walls (inside and out), which I am testing now will be of the distressed design painting 4 colors of the Downton stone stairwell, sanding it down and putting either/and miniwax waterbased "honeydew" and/or "pickled white wash" to give the wall hopefully a muted color.

I began to sand to condition the wood/pine.  It began to split....I was terrified.  We glued it and got it back together.  I wasn't worried about the seem as there is distressing on the floor with paint.  You can see this step in the photo.  I reinforced the bottom so that the board will not split again.  Thank goodness it happened right at the start.  This is phase 1...Several colors of paint...dry.  Then the plan is to sand down and stain over with golden oak gel stain.  I got some Polycrylic sealer for all kinds of stain.  I figure that I can always touch up as I build.  I did this on the She Shed project (for love of 1/6 scale) and the touchup was minimum.
