Roof.jpg

Awaiting a roof, porch and balcony railings, additional trim and a “stone” foundation.  Am trying to find the perfect light gray stain for the shingles. The paint scheme is partially based on the Duboce apartments in San Francisco—a huge Victorian apartment building that has been many colors over the years (including mustard yellow, purple and sage green, although not in combination), but is currently blue with red and white trim, with touches of gold.

Love the colors on the windows! I've stained my shingles grey using black wood stain mixed with water. You can adjust how dark you want the stain to look by the amount of water added, test the color first on a single shingle until you are happy with it ;)

I will give that a try.  I have tried two different stains--one too blue, the other just wrong.  Watered-down black may do the trick.
