kathi17 915 Posted October 2, 2016 Yeah, I've already started! I probably shouldn't have decided to make rock retaining walls though, those are pretty monotonous!!! Quote Link to comment

I read on the woodland Scenics site that craft acrylic will react badly with it??? Are they just saying that to make you order their pigments, or is it true? I've always bought a lot of their products, but now that I'm reading their recommendations in their instructions and FAQs, I'm starting to get a sour taste toward them. You know how nice Greenleaf is, letting us post about other products on their forums? It makes me want to buy Greenleaf products because I feel like they really care about their customers and miniatures in general. It feels like they aren't greedy, and that by letting builders of other brands of houses participate here, they know they will sell more products themselves. I know I started out with DC and RGT, but now I have more Greenleaf than any other brand, mostly because of this forum. On the other hand Woodland Scenics appears to not want you to buy anything except their products, and flat out tells you that if you use something else, it won't be compatible. In reading things on train forums as I research using WS products, I'm not the only one who feels that way about Woodland Scenics. Quote Link to comment
Debora59 2,608 Posted October 3, 2016 When I built my reflecting pool, I used 3 different colors of craft paints from hobby Lobby , two of which were metallic, I painted just the bottom of the pool and then added the woodland realistic water product and I had no trouble. So the paint is just on the wood bottom of the pool. http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/?app=gallery&module=gallery&controller=view&id=84627 Quote Link to comment

I was only planning on painting the bottom, (as well as the sides to look like stone), as well, but was hesitating because of what they said on their website. Now I know it's worth trying! I wanted Water Effects too, because I'm going to have a little stream flowing into it from the next layer up, but they didn't have any at our HL. I will probably play around with silicone and other stuff I have on wax paper to see if any of it will make a little waterfall. Quote Link to comment
