What are your plans for a cooktop and/or oven?  I'm designing a kitchen right now for my next build and plan to "install" a Sub-Zero frig that will match the cabinets.

The cabinets have an old world feel to me but the fridge seems newer. Part of me likes the contrast between fridge and cabinets though. If it was mine, I would try think of a way to richen the fridge to old world but not match exactly like it has custom painted panels possibly?

Amy I just uploaded a photo of the cabinets "placed" in the kitchen - with the range. I had tinkered with a true stainless steel one but they are outrageously expensive, so settled on the one from M&R. It was white, and I contemplated using silver paint, but knew that wouldn't look nice, so went with black.

Briana - I debated, and just decided I'd rather it blend in, and went with the same finish. I have other things - accessories etc that I want to highlight and this way they will.

I think the fridge is perfectly acceptable.......many owners of real life contemporary kitchens fitted with the more traditional style of kitchen units integrate 'white goods' quite happily..........given that it's a 'larder fridge' it would normally be place end of run so that makes it even easier to house harmoniously!

forgot to say.........love the units!

We remodeled our RL kitchen in 2009.  Our home is older and has very traditional bones throughout. We found a granite that complimented the pecan stained cabinetry, crown molding and baseboards, and replaced our "biscuit" colored appliances with black ones because the granite had black running through it.  All except the Fridge.  We finally had to replace it a couple of years ago, though, and went with black.  Although the trend was "brushed steel" it would be out of place in this home.  Just sayin'!

I also like black appliances with light wood cabinetry - nice contrast.  Have granite with a lot of black in my RL kitchen and also one big traditional open shelf cabinet in black, in my pantry cutout area.  My appliances are all black.    The built in cabinets are all  uniform light wood.    Like the mix of  light and dark finshes  in a kitchen rather than every cabinet in the same tone.

I love your armoire with the chicken pic inserts and chicken wire.
