I feel like I cracked the code for this ceiling! I made a dark wood beamed ceiling for the peach room and just didn't care for it. So I tried painting the beams to match the ceiling, I felt it would help with keeping the room bright. I have gone back and forth on whether or not I would be able to use crown molding since I need the beams to hide the light fixture, with this particular room I kept coming back to the crown molding, so I used fewer beams and notched out the molding. this adds stability all around as well by incorporating both. The beams are also place in such a way that they fit the fireplace width and then the bay window widths as well. The beam has been routered out on the back side. the cord will pop out the back side of the house.
