Are you custom building a drop down set of attic stairs? My purchased one was way bigger than I planned on using in the space I had for it.

I am actually using the Houseworks straight staircase.  I cut off 3 steps to adjust for ceiling height.  They will be at a steeper angle than normal, but not so much it will be very noticeable (or the inhabitants will fall).  The bottom step is trimmed, as is the door frame, so they butt against each other.
