Cherry Blossom Fan

blueirishmoon

This was the 2nd project I ever made, a gift for my aunt. The two of us have always loved fans, and she had a lot of these colors in her house in FL.

Blossoms are a lovely pale peach glass, centers a very pale amber, stems a dark amber, leaves an olive green. The background is part of my favorite series of Spectrum glass: aqua lime from the pearl opal series.

Thank you! Spectrum is by far my favorite of the "machine-made" glasses. The surface is always smooth and slick, with a glossy finish. It makes for super easy cutting. Kokomo (located in IN) glasses have been around for a long time, some of the recipes they made for Tiffany are still made. Wissmach (they're in WV, and I've been to their factory) is also easy to cut and they have great glass. Youghiogheny glass makes great handmade glass, which is not as consistent as machine-made. They're in SW PA and I've been to their factory too. But the very best of the handmade glass is Uroboros. Their glass is beautiful, but very pricy! They're located in WA or OR, too far for me to visit.
