Parlor Drapes
As I examine the house more closely I begin to see the workmanship, love, and care that went into it. These drapes, in what I assume to have been the parlor, have been carefully hand-stitched all the way around to hem them; plus the "rod pocket" at the top. A piece of gauze/mesh fabric, with lace stitched to the bottom, was used as the sheer curtain behind the drapes.
I have taken down all the drapes, still hanging on all 8 windows, and washed them carefully. I put them all in a small basin of warm soapy water, soaked them for quite awhile, then gently squeezed them several times. By the third basin full the water was finally clear.
