Star

I purposely looked for a doll with blonde ringlets, to pay homage to Shirley Temple's portrayal of Star in her movie Captain January.

There is also a Baby Peggy film adaptation, but I always enjoyed the Shirley Temple version better.

Well, boys can have curly hair too - but still, this looks like Shirley to me!

That reminds of when my niece wanted a boy doll for Christmas. I bought her a cabbage patch doll that was dressed like a boy, but going by its name, I wasn't sure if it was meant to be a boy or a girl.

Now all those dolls have the shaggy mane of hair in the front, and this one had red ruffled curls, so I still wasn't certain, and I asked the check out women to take it out of the box to make sure it didn't have braids that were hidden by the packaging. They weren't pleased with me, but they did it.

My mother found this amusing, and on our way out of the store, she told me there was a better way of determining whether someone was a boy or girl.
