Interesting miniature box

I got this box for 25 cents at my local "reusable resources" store. I love that it appears to have been made from a yardstick or something similar. It's too big for my Chantilly, but my next dollhouse waiting in the wings is a 3/4 scale, so I'm hoping I can make it into some sort of shelving or supply box for my bakery.
