Lampshade.
I don't know why I took these pictures-- maybe I had the window light on, though one couldn't tell it with this lighting...
I didn't like the cheapy plastic lampshade that came with the table lamp; not very realistic. So I found a tut for a lamp harp and a tut for a lampshade, both by 1inchminisbykris (love her work!) and gave it a whirl. I used copper wire for the harp (not quite sure what gauge it is) with clod-sy results; it was clumsy and didn't work for me so I cut up a little aluminum box (that held cuff links, I think) and used the strips to fashion a stand for the shade:
Then I tried the shade. I made my own paper patterns, referencing Kris' instructions, and went through three iterations before I had something worth going forward with; then it took me a couple tries before I could get it covered very well. I think it really depends on how stretchy and forgiving the cloth is. My "piping" is embroidery thread stiffened with spray starch, so it is not as fine as Kris' piping, which she has a tutorial for as well.
Hmmmm... I'll think about it, see if it grows on me. I don't know whether it clashes with the window treatment too much... Might need to make another with a different cloth...
