Storybook cottage

This will be a witch/wizard shop of some kind. I don't have alot of witch/wizard supplies at this point...so i don't want to set my mind on something and not be able to find the supplies that i want....so...i'll leave things open at the moment.

I will paint the interior and probably age it...i want to create a dark mystical place...so lots of dark stained wood (hey no surprise there since all my projects seem to develpe dark stained wood  )...The attic will have wide wood plank flooring and walls...i'll use my Cororna siding strips for this. The ceiling of the first floor will also have the wide siding strips...not sure about the first floor flooring tho...i'm thinking stone tiles. we shall see! :ohyeah:

The outside will have burnt umber wood everywhere with paperclay in between. For the paperclay, i want to try brickwork with some stonework here and there. I may also leave some areas with plain paperclay...just textured with a brush. I've ordered some pointy shingles from a seller on ebay. Andrew felt that those would look best, but now i'm not so sure. I'll wait until they arrive and i'll lay a couple of rows on with masking tape.

Thanks Tracy!

It's starting to come together...like i've envisioned it! i just worry now that my paperclay will pull away from the timbers, or my bricks will bleed together...or it will just look silly when it's finished...;)

Remember, you can always use some moss in gaps between the timbers. If you be sure to glue evenly, you should not have too much of a problem with the paperclay coming away from the timbers. Also, be sure the thickness is the same for that piece of clay. Uneven areas can cause big issues . As regards to the bricks, just be sure that your paint brush is not over loaded with paint. Practice makes perfect (Or in my case, it just means less mistakes ;) )

Thanks for the tips Tracy!

I got all the wood stained today. I also sanded and stained all my Corona siding. looks darker than i had planned, but that's okay. If i'm not happy with this house, i can always build another! I think my next house to make in a witch/wizard fashion will be my Vineyard Cottage...so i'm hoping i can create a street with these types of houses/buildings on it :) I'd then like to build a witches house, perhaps the sugarplum...not sure, but i'd like to do the buttercup in this fashion as well so that might be my witches house. we shall see :)

Oh and i cut a few more exterior timbers and applied them. I ran out of time (i just barely finished staining)...i had wanted to get the exterior timbers painted with the burnt umber. so i'll do that tomorrow evening after work...i really want to be able to paperclay on saturday. :)
